Kymbali Williams is a London-raised, multi-instrumentalist producer, composer and interdisciplinary performance artist now based in Estonia. Her artistic practice delves into the world of audiovisual space exploration, weaving together elements of voice, movement, and intercultural performance.
During her residency at Rote Fabrik, Kymbali will explore Zürich’s auditory landscape, drawing inspiration from the city's unique sounds to create a guided narrative that blends spoken word with melody, accompanied by a composed soundscape. Building upon her 'Invisible Lines' audio walk series, this new iteration seeks to ‘sing’ people through Zürich, blending collective and cultural memories to offer a unique journey through the city's urban life and history.
In alignment with the theme, Collecting Collectivities, Kymbali will facilitate a series of collaborative, creative workshops. These will include participatory exercises involving movement, vocal explorations (improvisational vocalisation and ensemble singing), sound recordings, and jam sessions.
Additionally, Kymbali intends to maintain her daily movement and vocal practice, using the day’s discoveries to create mini-compositions throughout the process. She hopes to share this evolving practice with others, fostering a collective experience that brings people from various backgrounds together.
