Miramar Al Nayyar
Visual Arts, Painting
From Amman, Jordan. Currently living between Amman and Dubai.
Artist in Residence at Rote Fabrik from January to March 2024.
Miramar Al Nayyar is a multi-disciplinary artist hailing from Iraq, currently based between Amman and Dubai.
Al Nayyar’s three-dimensional works reveal her profound fascination with the interplay between nature, kinematic phenomena, temporality, and spatiality. Recently, Al Nayyar has focused on an introspective examination of the nude topographies of desert rock formations and their relationship to the human body.
In her praxis, Al Nayyar employs an innovative methodology to encapsulate and immortalize the ephemeral choreography of motion she observes within the desert-scape. The artist imbues her works with the ceaseless cadence of natural motion and captures the dialogue between transitory forces and eternal stasis.
During her stay, Miramar will be translating her artistic vision and processes into the digital realm with the help of IAS. The underlying objective of this residency is to delve into a more profound comprehension of the outcomes derived from movement and the inherent essence of natural motion. Additionally, her exploration aims to unravel the intricate relationship between nature and movement.
Meanwhile, in her studio at Rote Fabric, she will study these digital recordings and endeavor to replicate them manually on canvas using her own movements. Reflecting on her manual process and integrating everything—digital, natural, and manual attempts—into a comparative context. This is the essence of what she aspires to share with people: her exploration as she seeks connections.
